Neighbourhood associations. Not a condo directory. Our coverage, explained

EDITORIAL STANDARDS & SOURCE COVERAGE

Trust the evidence.
See the limits.

Useful research means separating a known fact from an inference, a source reference from a document review, and a neighbourhood from an individual property.

What is actually in this release?

77HOA / property-association profiles
11Separate voluntary community associations
587Document references
746Distinct source URLs

88 total association profiles. The Alberta material reconciles 70 existing Calgary-area profiles with 16 Edmonton-region profiles. Ontario and British Columbia currently have one profile each, with targeted source enrichment recorded below. Original review dates range across the underlying research and are not reset to the migration date.

The legacy 451 identification records remain outside the core directory, in a clearly labelled, noindex research archive. They are not new HOA profiles.

RESEARCH THAT ACCUMULATES

The review journal.

Each entry records the work performed, not a claim that every fact on every page is new. Earlier observations remain in the change record.

Property-level questions, clearer responsibilities

Targeted enrichment of five existing profiles; not a national completeness claim. Original review dates and superseded observations are retained.

5 existing profiles · 45 added items · 7 revisited items · 22 reviewed sources · 1 located-only source

Review limits and unsuccessful retrievals

Original source: No new renovation-policy claim made from this attempt.

Original source: Budget catalogued only; table amounts not published.

Classify the role, not just the name

Homeowners’, residents’, lake and property-service associations belong in the primary directory. Voluntary civic community associations are separated. An organization with “community association” in its name can nevertheless manage private infrastructure or report mandatory property funding; its actual profile explains the distinction.

Condominium corporations are not treated as another spelling of neighbourhood HOA. A property can have multiple obligations, and fee membership cannot be inferred from a landscape-maintenance boundary.

Our evidence labels

Association-published / government-published
The fact is attributed to that publisher. It is not a certificate of legal validity, current account status or individual property eligibility.
Historical
The record supports an earlier period. It does not replace a current invoice or policy.
Not yet confirmed
The research has an unresolved question or lacks an adequate source. It does not mean free, permitted, prohibited or exempt.
Imported research
Existing work has been reconciled into HOAs.ca. The underlying source date and review scope are retained, including partial or selected-section reviews.

What the numbers do not measure

A document reference may be a link to an original, a historical file or a known missing document. Source counts are distinct URLs, not independent confirmations. A source may support more than one profile. Published 2026-period amounts are not a guarantee that a newer invoice does not exist.

No subjective association quality ranking, financial-health certification, parcel membership map or automatic title-check result is being published. No average fee is calculated from mismatched property classes.

Original publishers remain the authority

We summarize relevant facts and link to the original materials. Full third-party PDFs are not republished in this release. Restricted, login-only and private resident documents are not collected here. Public source availability does not make a policy complete, current or applicable to every nearby property.

The Calgary research originated in the related HomeownersAssociation.ca project. This relationship is disclosed; the two sites are not counted as independent corroboration.

Corrections, association participation and commercial separation

Anyone can submit a correction with an original source. Submissions are requests for review, not automatic edits. An association must not be shown as having endorsed a profile merely because it is listed. Commercial participation does not change the evidence labels or buy a favourable research conclusion.

Photography and illustration

Community artwork reused from the related Calgary project is labelled as editorial illustration. It is not a survey, real-time site view, amenity guarantee or membership map. The illustrations are for orientation and atmosphere, not evidence of eligibility.
